A number of campus and local magazines and journals publish undergraduate writing.

Forbes and Fifth

Forbes and Fifth is an interdisciplinary magazine produced by Pitt's Office for Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity. The journal publishes undergraduate research and creative work.

Hot Metal Bridge

Hot Metal Bridge is the University of Pittsburgh’s official literary magazine, published twice a year. The magazine accepts a wide variety of genres, including both fiction and nonfiction, along with poetry, satire, and literary/social criticism. Undergraduate writing is published alongside that of more seasoned writers.

Original Magazine

The Original Magazine is a non-profit, semi-annual publication highlighting Pittsburgh artists and creative thinkers. The magazine publishes fiction and nonfiction, along with original artwork, photography, and poetry.

Creative Nonfiction

Creative Nonfiction is a quarterly journal highlighting nonfiction writing, including memoirs, personal essays, prose, and literary journalism, as well as an exploration of the writing process. The journal publishes writings from a variety of sources—including undergrads—and accepts submissions year-round.

Collision Literary Magazine

Collision Literary Magazine publishes creative nonfiction writing from college undergraduates, including University of Pittsburgh students. One of the few undergraduate publications in America devoted solely to creative nonfiction, Collision accepts a wide variety of work, including prose, poetry, essays, and personal narratives/memoirs. Other artists—especially photographers and musicians—are also encouraged to contribute. The magazine also awards cash prizes for exemplary work in specific fields and genres. Pitt Political Review

Pitt Political Review provides Pitt students with a wide-ranging, detailed and non-partisan examination of key political issues and current events. The magazine allows politically knowledgeable undergrads from all majors to contribute analyses, articles and essays.

Pittsburgh Undergraduate Review

The Pittsburgh Undergraduate Review is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal devoted to showcasing outstanding undergraduate writing. Founded in the early ‘80s, the Review publishes work that highlights innovative student research and thought. All college undergrads may contribute—not just Pitt students—with work representing any field of study. All submissions must be approved by the editorial board and two Pitt professors before being published.

Three Rivers Review

Three Rivers Review publishes undergraduate fiction prose and poetry. Published annually, the magazine accepts work from students attending every Pitt campus and all colleges and universities from the tri-state area.
