Marlee and James Myers Award

For the best undergraduate essays in lower-level Literature courses taught by Graduate Teaching Fellows.

Prizes total up to $500

Deadline for receipt of submissions: early October, with exact date changing from years to year.
Guidelines:

  1. Essays must be minimum of 1000 words long, maximum 10 pages.
  2. Essays must have been written during the 2010-2011 academic year, from any term including Summer sessions, for an English Literature or Film course at the University of Pittsburgh below the 1000 level, taught by a Graduate Teaching Fellow (ask the instructor if you are unsure).
  3. Essays may be submitted by students or their teachers
  4. Students can submit only one essay each. Essays that have won other University-sponsore awards are not eligible. Essays should not be submitted simultaneously to other English Department contests.
  5. Email electronic copy to AEP63@pitt.edu. No Paper submissions.
  6. Author’s name should appear only on a separate cover page that also includes: the essay’s title; the author’s address, phone number, and email address the name of the award for which the essay is being submitted; the name of the course, and the instructor for whom the essay was written.
  7. Assignment may be included if necessary to clarify the essay.
