For the best undergraduate essays in lower-level Literature courses taught by Graduate Teaching Fellows.
Prizes total up to $500
Deadline for receipt of submissions: early October, with exact date changing from years to year.
Guidelines:
- Essays must be minimum of 1000 words long, maximum 10 pages.
- Essays must have been written during the 2010-2011 academic year, from any term including Summer sessions, for an English Literature or Film course at the University of Pittsburgh below the 1000 level, taught by a Graduate Teaching Fellow (ask the instructor if you are unsure).
- Essays may be submitted by students or their teachers
- Students can submit only one essay each. Essays that have won other University-sponsore awards are not eligible. Essays should not be submitted simultaneously to other English Department contests.
- Email electronic copy to AEP63@pitt.edu. No Paper submissions.
- Author’s name should appear only on a separate cover page that also includes: the essay’s title; the author’s address, phone number, and email address the name of the award for which the essay is being submitted; the name of the course, and the instructor for whom the essay was written.
- Assignment may be included if necessary to clarify the essay.
